Getting Here and Away
By Car: From Dar es Salaam, go north towards Arusha. At the Arusha/Tanga T-junction (Segera) turn right. In Muheza there is a sign 42 kms to Pangani. Turn right and follow the dirt road (1 hour). Note: It is a dirt road and if it has recently rained, the road can be very slippery. If the Muheza Road is not passable, continue on the tarmac another 30 minutes to Tanga. In Tanga, ask for the Pangani Road. After 42 kms on the Pangani Road, you will pass over a bridge and immediately after, you will see a sign for Mkoma Bay Tented Lodge. Turn left and follow the track.
Bus: Scandinavian Bus Lines run daily to and from Dar es Salaam and arrive in Tanga early afternoon. Buses to Dar es Salaam depart from Tanga at 8:00 AM. Other bus companies run regularly to Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mombasa. Local buses and dala dalas; (minibuses) run regularly between Tanga and Pangani.
