Getting Here and Away

By private car: From Dar es Salaam, take the Morogoro Road and turn right at Chalinze towards Segera. At the Segera T-junction, turn right to Tanga/Muheza. In Muheza, there is a a sign on the right hand side of the road Pangani 42 kms. Continue on this road until you see the ocean and come to a T- junction. Turn left, and and look for the Mkoma Bay sign (1 km) and then follow the track to the right. Note: It is a dirt road and if it has recently rained, the road can be very slippery. If the Muheza Road is not passable, continue on the tarmac another 30 minutes to Tanga. In Tanga, ask for the Pangani Road.  After 42 kms on the Pangani Road, you will pass over a bridge and immediately after, you will see a sign for Mkoma Bay Tented Lodge. Turn left and follow the track. 

Bus: Scandinavian Bus Lines run daily to and from Dar es Salaam and arrive in Tanga early afternoon. Buses to Dar es Salaam depart from Tanga at 8:00 AM. Other bus companies run regularly to Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mombasa. Local buses and dala dalas; (minibuses) run regularly between Tanga and Pangani.

Transfers from Tanga: For guests staying seven nights or more, transport to and from Tanga will be provided free of charge.

Taxis: We can arrange for taxi service to and from Tanga town and airport. Normal fare is $50. Contact us for transfer rates to and from Dar es Salaam and Arusha.

Transfers for Pangani Mashado Airstrip: $25

Zanzibar: We can organize dhow transport to Zanzibar leaving from our beach.
